By profession Daniel Schual-Berke is a physician. He has forever been captivated by the magic of photography and the awesome creative power of computers. Advances in digital printers and printing technology have transformed the photographic process into a more versatile and expressive medium.
As in traditional photography Dan sees the world through an artist’s lens, focuses on objects as separate parts or as the sum of their parts, modifies and extracts the elements of a subject, and eventually shares the creative effort with others through electronic or printed imagery.
But in between the moment he presses the shutter release and the print button he enters into a digital wonderland that offers unbridled creativity. The form and content of the imagery remains true but color, tone, contrast, texture, special effects, etc are all subject to impulsive change. Digital photography provides a medium for creating imagery that reveals the world in a familiar yet different light. The eye views the images through a refreshed perspective. Dan's images are varied; portrait, scenic, wildlife, florals, macro, digital art, etc. The images are suffused with intense color, bold contrast, and detailed texture.
